Mark Cuban joins Adam Lyons at SXSW to Discuss Government and Tech Innovation

Famed businessman and investor Mark Cuban joins Adam Lyons, Founder and CEO of insurance comparison website The Zebra, at SXSW March 12 to highlight the political impact on tech companies at a global, national, and local level

AUSTIN, Texas — March 6, 2017 — The Zebra, the nation’s most visited online car insurance comparison marketplace, today announced that its founder and CEO Adam Lyons will join Dallas Mavericks owner, “Shark Tank” star and serial entrepreneur Mark Cuban on a panel moderated by Austin tech and innovation executive Michele Skelding at the south by southwest interactive festival (sxsw)in Austin, Texas. On Sunday, March 12, the panelists will explore hot-button issues across local, national and global economies in which government is a boon to innovation – and when it runs the risk of disrupting disruption.

“Government as a service is our future. How we get there is the big question,” Mark Cuban said. “I'm looking forward to being part of this discussion.”

Cuban, no stranger to pushing boundaries and rewriting regulatory rules, and Lyons, whose company The Zebra is disrupting the highly regulated and complex insurance industry and was recently named to Forbes 30 Under 30 list, will share their own experiences and their insights into whether and how government leaders and regulation are impacting tech and industry innovation, and what independent organizations and consumers can do about it.

“Building a successful tech company can be extremely challenging for plenty of reasons unrelated to politics,” Adam Lyons said. “But truly disruptive organizations often have to navigate additional hurdles in an complex, changing, regulatory environment – for better or worse.”

Cuban and Lyons will be hosted by moderator Michele Skelding, entrepreneurial advisor at the University of Texas and former SVP of global technology and innovation at the Austin Chamber of Commerce.
