The Zebra Named Top Workplace by Austin American-Statesman for Second Consecutive Year

Employees value culture, premier office space, perks and team support as company explodes in growth

AUSTIN, Texas, November 6, 2017 The Zebra, the nation’s leading insurance search engine, today announced that the Austin American-Statesman has named the company a 2017 Top Workplace. The Zebra has earned the distinction for the second consecutive year. The award was granted based on results from a third-party survey, where employees shared feedback about the company’s commitment to collaboration, support of employees’ individual and team success, and culture as a whole.

“This year we’ve grown fast and achieved so much, but we made it a priority to ensure that our people are respected, supported, and heard,” says Adam Lyons, Founder and President of The Zebra. “Our employees are The Zebra and it’s definitely an honor to work alongside such a smart, unique, and supportive group every day.”

Employees enjoy a variety of unique perks on the job, including a monthly home maid service, a monthly “Treat Yo’self” perk to indulge in a fun or relaxing activity of their choosing such as massage or exercise classes, and an in-house barista and daily afternoon smoothies.

In September 2017, The Zebra landed the largest venture capital investment in Austin to-date for the year, closing their $40 million Series B funding round led by Accel Partners. Often touted as “the KAYAK for insurance,” The Zebra also welcomed Keith Melnick, former President and founding team member of KAYAK, as CEO to help guide the company in its explosive growth. The Zebra also launched a revolutionary personal finance product, the Insurability Score™, a free, first-of-its-kind score which decodes for consumers what is affecting their individual insurance risk, by how much, and what they can do about it.

Due to this exponential growth, The Zebra is currently hiring for a multitude of positions across several disciplines, including engineering and marketing. Interested applicants can find a list of openings at

The Top Workplaces lists are based solely on the results of an employee feedback survey administered by Energage, LLC (formerly WorkplaceDynamics), a leading research firm that specializes in organizational health and workplace improvement.

“Being a Top Workplace is more than offering hip new perks. Sure, people may value them, but being a Top Workplace is a measure of organizational health. It’s about creating a high-performance culture that inspires employees to do their best. By far, the most successful organizations are the ones employees believe in,” says Doug Claffey, CEO of Energage.
