Question
Does my 20 year old need his own car insurance policy?
I am considering putting my 20-year-old son's car in his name. How will that affect his insurance rates? He lives in FLA and I live in TN. 20-year-old male, a good student, attended driving school. Good Driving Record. 1 accident but other drivers fault
Answer
Since he lives in Florida, he will need to get his own policy. He is still considered a young driver and Florida requires Personal Injury Protection (PIP) which makes the rates more expensive than Tenessee. There are several other factors that go into calculating the rate. Being a good student with a good driving record will help. At The Zebra, we can quote him with several different companies at once. Good luck and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
