Question
If I was in a 3 car fender bender, whose insurance do I contact for repairs?
My car was the last vehicle hit in the accident and I didn't hit any other cars. My back bumper is damaged and so are the other vehicles involved in the pileup. Do I contact my insurance company? Will they raise my rate because of the accident?
Answer
With a multiple car accident it's usually best to contact your insurance company to start the claims process and they should work out the details with the insurers of the other drivers. These types of accidents can be a bit complicated when determining fault, but insurance companies do a pretty good job sorting through the details. Take as many pictures of the damage as you possibly can to help out the claims process. As far as the impact to your rate, that will very likely depend on the determination of fault. I would ask your insurance provider when you speak with them.
