Question

$355 dollar of damage and $250 deductible should I file a claim

My daughter ran into the back of a truck. There is no damage to the truck and he was not worried about it. The car's bumper is broke along with the grill. I can fix it for $355 and my deductible is $250. Does it make sense to fix it myself so my rates will not increase.

I would pay out of pocket. The rate increase from an at fault accident against her would increase her rates for 3 years. For your state in 2017, an at-fault accident raised rates an average of 53% according to our State of Insurance analysis. Because you would only gain $105 from filing a claim but would most likely pay more than that in future claims, I recommend going out of pocket for this. However, the decision is up to you.
