Question

Does homeowners insurance cover re-stain after claim?

My deck railings were destroyed when my awning collapsed. A few boards need to be replaced too that anchored the awning. The awning is being covered, along with the Deck. Question is with half of the railings destroyed, will the insurance only cover restaining the new section, or the whole deck to match?

Your homeowner’s insurance will typically pay to repair the damage to the property. They don’t pay to make sure the stain matches. With that being said, you may be able to get your company to pay for the entire deck to be restained by stating your case of the colors not matching. They may pay to make sure the colors match but are not required to. Talk to your adjuster and see what they will be able to do for you. Good luck and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
