Question
Would I avoid the penalties of a ticket for failing to provide proof of insurance if I got insurance before my court date?
I recently got pulled over and got a ticket for failing to provide proof of insurance. I don’t have it. I just can’t afford it. But now I have to get it. I just started a new job and I’m finally getting those paychecks so now I’m in a place where I can get myself insured. My question is, would I avoid the penalties if I got insurance before my court date?
Answer
Unfortunately, you likely won't be able to avoid any penalty for not having insurance. I would still recommend going to court with insurance — your judgment might be less severe if you resolve your uninsured status versus still being uninsured by the time your court date comes around. We can help you find a good rate at The Zebra. Good luck, and if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.
