Question

Can my boyfriend remove me from policy without my knowledge?

He added me to his car insurance policy. I moved out and maybe 2 weeks later was in a car accident. So I called him to let him know and he told me that he took me off the policy without telling me. So I was driving without insurance and had no idea. I had paid him for my part of the insurance right before moving out. Can I be taken off without being notified? I know that you can not remove a spouse without there consent but is it the same for unmarried partner?

Yes. He can remove you from the policy without your consent or informing you. Since the policy is in his name, he can make any changes to the policy that he wants. Since you paid him for the coverage, you may want to seek legal advice, you may want to seek legal advice. Good luck and if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
