Question

Can my daughter keep her vehicle insured under my name?

My daughter is buying my car from me. She wants to keep the insurance in my name. I no longer drive so I have no use for the car. She is 22 and just got her license. Will having her own insurance or adding her to mine be cheaper?

There's a couple of things to think about here. Does your daughter live with you? If she lives with you, you can add her to your policy. If your daughter lives elsewhere, she needs her own policy for the place where the vehicle will be parked the majority of the time.
If she lives with you and you're able to add her to the policy, it is typically it will be cheaper to add her to your policy. The reason being, you already have an established policy. One of the major rating factors for insurance companies is how long you have been continuously insured. Since your daughter is not currently insured her rates would be higher. I would recommend talking to your current company to see how much it would cost to add her to your policy and then do a quote for her on her own. We can quote you with several carriers at thezebra.com. You can also give us a call at  833-768-7789. Good luck and if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.
