How can I enroll just my child to another insurance policy while I stay with Geico? My son is 21 years old and does not have a car. He has had two accidents.
This can be tricky. My best recommendation is simply to contact GEICO. If your son lives with you and you want him removed from your policy, you would need to have GEICO exclude him. He would still be listed on the policy but wouldn’t be a covered driver and wouldn’t impact your premium.
As for your son, if he does not have a car but needs auto insurance, I recommend a non-owners policy. This will give your son liability insurance only — no collision or comprehensive. Non-owners tends to be less expensive than a traditional insurance policy. GEICO might provide non-owners, but you would need to check with them. If your son is interested in a non-owners quote, he can speak to one of our licensed agents at 888-444-2833.
