Can I get accident forgiveness after an accident?

I had an accident in February at a two-way intersection where I had stopped and entered into the intersection and hit another car. My car insurance with Geico is more than doubling now! How do I get forgiveness for the accident and lower my rate?

I’m sorry but you will not be able to have an accident forgiven and removed from your record. Depending on the insurance company, they have specific rules about accident forgiveness — generally, you need to be accident-free for a few years before an accident is forgiven.

Unfortunately, the accident can impact your rates for up to five years. Since your rates doubled, you should shop for a better rate. We can quote you with several carriers at The Zebra. You can also give us a call at 888-807-3823.

Good luck and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. For more information, see our additional resources below.
