Question

Can I get car insurance if I don't have a license?

I have a state-issued ID, but I never had any desire to get my drivers license. I was just recently gifted a vehicle and need to insure it, but I'm worried that I won't be able to find a company that will cover me without a license. What can I do?

The majority of insurance companies require that you have a valid license before issuing a policy. However, there are companies that will issue coverage with just a state ID. For people in your situation, we recommend working with a local agent to discuss your options and which companies would be willing to offer a policy. Requirements vary by company and situation so you may want to contact a few different agencies for the best chance of success.
