Question

Can Hanover insurance raise my premium for an at fault claim if I decide not to pursue it and nothing is paid?

Backed into a fire hydrant with some damage to trunk hood of my 2008 Camry.
  • Insurance co did own estimate of $1,183 for this "at fault" claim
  • Deductible $500
  • Their payout would be $683.
Now I learned that my premium will likely increase for 3 years. I am considering not pursuing it but, because it has been reported, was told by my agent that it will likely still affect my policy. I am 66 yrs old, retired, drive about 6,000 miles/year, cars insured with Hanover since 2012, payments always timely, no previous claims, credit score about 800, 2nd car and house also insured with Hanover. Insurance score on house policy is 822. Spouse and I are the only drivers. Thank you.
