Question
Can I add a non-licensed, non-U.S. citizen to an auto policy?
I currently have someone in my household that needs to be placed on my auto policy, but they don't have a license yet.
Answer
Thanks for the question. The first thing that I would say is that you should consider having them get their drivers license beforehand. Afterward, if you already have an existing plan, I would check to see if adding a foreign driver is an eligible risk for them to consider. Some companies will have no problem adding them to the plan. If ineligible, you will need to find a new carrier that can do this. However, you may find that it costs a little bit more than your previous policy.
