Can I dispute the payout amount my insurance company wants to give me?
My truck was recently in an accident. Not with another car, just a small amount of property damage. My insurance told me my actual cash value is $5000 but they're only offering me $1000 due to rust. I do not know much about insurance but when I ask other people they tell me that something is wrong and I need to sue. Can I dispute this amount?
Actual cash value (ACV) from your insurance is not the same as an adjusted amount — it's an estimate on their books. I would get another person to look at the vehicle and get another opinion on the adjustment to make sure it was accurate before trying to fight the claims department.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
