Question

Can my insurance agent list me as single even if I'm married?

I am married but my wife is not licensed. My insurance carrier and agent says they have to list me as single at a higher rate do to her status. Is that fair? I have State Farm.

No. You should be able to be listed as married and just have your wife listed as an excluded driver on your policy. I wouldn't recommend agreeing to an insurance policy that doesn't accurately reflect your correct personal information. You can receive a car insurance quote here.
