Question

Can insurance be force-placed if we did not have coverage on the new vehicle for three months last year?

We recently bought a new vehicle. When we dropped the old vehicle off of insurance, we did not have coverage on the new vehicle for three months. That was last year. Can they force place insurance on us for those three months last year?

Yes, many lenders have this written into their agreements and you will get charged for any time not insured. In most cases, they will force-place insurance on the vehicle of their own and charge you for it unless you can provide proof that you were insured during those months.
