Question
Can my insurance company deny a claim if I didn't move my vehicle knowing that a storm was approaching?
I evacuated before a storm hit and carpooled with some friends. I left my vehicle parked at my house since we took another friend's car that was larger. When we got back home my car was completely flooded. Will my insurance company deny a claim if I left my car parked at my house?
Answer
No. If your policy includes comprehensive coverage on your vehicle then a claim shouldn't be denied for flood damage. Not everyone has access to a garage or covered parking, think about people who live in apartments, so they would still be protected by comprehensive coverage if their vehicle was damaged in a storm.
