Question

Can I purchase additional coverage for the same car through a different insurance company?

The company I insure my cars through now doesn't offer collision/comprehensive for my car because it's a 2001...but I just recently took out a collateral loan on it and they require it. Is there a way to supplement coverage to my already otherwise insured car?

No, you would need to get a new policy since every policy needs to have the state minimum liability for Illinois and then you would be able to add comprehensive and collision coverage. Keep in mind, because of the age of the vehicle, there are some companies that will not add comprehensive and collision coverage. The Zebra offers you quotes from several different companies. You can also give us a call at 888-807-3823. Good luck and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
