Question

Can I put my insurance on hold due to temporary disability?

I am going on disability for about 4 months. The disability check is not enough to pay for my car insurance. Can I suspend my coverage?

Technically, you can cancel your car insurance at any time. However, canceling your policy will result in the loss of a Prior Insurance discount when you go to purchase another policy in the future. In addition, your vehicle’s registration could potentially be suspended if the state realizes that your vehicle is no longer covered. If you’re in a pinch, I suggest shopping for a lower rate with as many companies as possible. This will ensure that you are getting the lowest rate without having to cancel altogether. Best of luck!
