How do I cancel my insurance policy?

Can you get in trouble for telling your insurance company you sold your car when you didn’t actually sell it because you found a better policy? I told my present insurance company I sold my car when In fact I didn’t I found a better insurance policy and canceled my policy if I sign the cancellation request can I be charged with insurance fraud
