Car insurance implications of not adding wife to policy

Do I need to add my wife to my car insurance? My wife was never licensed to drive but she rides the same car along with me. I am the only driver in the household, how insurance will work in case of a situation for her ? is she still covered under the insurance, even though she is not listed as Driver.

Most insurance companies require anyone above driving age (16, usually) to either be added to the policy as a driver, excluded, to added to the policy as a non-driver. In this case, she will most likely be an excluded driver, meaning she isn’t allowed to use the vehicle. If she were to use the vehicle and get into an accident, you risk being denied coverage. If she were to get a license in the future, you could remove the exclusion and list her as a covered driver in the household.
