Question

Are car insurance quotes free?

I am 16 and will be getting a vehicle soon. I am having to pay for the vehicle myself and all of the fees that go with it. I want to make sure before I start shopping for insurance that I won’t be charged for checking with a bunch of different companies.

You should never have to pay for a car insurance quote. Since auto insurance is so specific to each person, it would be impossible for companies to advertise a set price to take out a policy. This requires that you provide enough information for that company to properly price your coverage based on their requirements. The good thing is, getting quotes will never cost a thing because these companies want you as a customer. If you are ever told that there will be a charge to provide a quote, you should report that agent and/or the company to your state’s department of insurance.
