Question

Why is my CDL license being penalized for an accident I was not involved in?

My ex-spouse was involved in an accident in his own vehicle back in March 2016. He was at fault. I found out yesterday as I'm trying to obtain auto insurance that my CDL Class A is being tacked with this accident. It appears as if I had the accident and was at fault, making the quotes extremely high. I want to know why? and What do I need to do to fix this?

If the policy was in your name when the accident occurred, the accident will show up on your claims history as an at-fault accident. The reason this shows up is your responsible for claims that are paid out on behalf of your policy. The person who was driving will also have the accident show up on their record. There isn't much that can be done to remove it. You can try disputing it with your previous insurance company but they are the ones that can remove it. Good luck and if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.
