Does having a child impact my car insurance rate?

I just had a baby and obviously she won't be driving, but will my car insurance change because I now have a baby riding in my car?

Luckily, passengers don't affect your insurance rates, so a new addition to the family won't cause you to pay more. That being said, with additional passengers, especially young children, you might want to consider revisiting the coverage on your insurance policy. Adding medical payments or PIP coverage to your policy would be a good idea to protect your new baby while she rides in your car, if you don't already have that included on your policy. It's important to revisit your policy coverage when you experience major life events so you can make sure that you are adequately covered for your new situation. Congratulations on the little one, and best of luck!
