I was in an auto accident and was unaware that my coverage was cancel. I live in an no fault state. Now the other ins co. is demanding payment. What happens now? Can I be sued?
Although you do live in a no-fault state, this only applies to any bodily injury claims that could have occurred – not physical damage to any vehicles. Unfortunately, because you didn’t have liability insurance at the time of the accident, you are out of options. If the other driver as uninsured motorist protection, they could have their damages compensated that way. But, yes, you could potentially be sued for not having insurance and for the damages you caused.
