Customer service for AAA roadside assistance only versus AAA auto insurance?
Is someone who has AAA Roadside assistance with AAA as valuable to AAA as someone who has automobile insurance through them? I have AAA for Roadside Assistance but not for car insurance. I was in a motor vehicle accident where the other party is insured through AAA. I heard (from my sisters and some others) that AAA can be stingy, or they can make it difficult to get reimbursed if you're not their member aka if you're the other party. I don't know if it would make any difference to let my adjuster know that I have membership with AAA for RSA but not automobile insurance. Am I going to be treated differently?
Insurance companies are regulated at a state commissioner level and in theory, are supposed to be neutral. But, it's hard to say for sure any being is entirely neutral. I would recommend looking at customer reviews and reports for your specific area, as that will give you the best information. From my own research, AAAseems to be about average on handling claims. Remember, if you feel you are being treated unfairly, you can contact the insurance commissioner of California and complain.
