My rental car was vandalized at a hotel when they valet parked it. The driver side lock was punctured & now the driver door only doesn't lock. I had declined all rental insurance as I used American Express and they have basic car rental loss and damage insurance. Should I notify my insurance company or pay myself? I lookup on online (it's midnight here), and cost is average about $300. Also, should I get an official estimate before I fill out police report or just estimate myself?

I would first contact the valet company. Valet's are required to carry car insurance for their drivers that extends to cover the vehicles when they're in their care. That's who I would seek to cover the damages before or your credit card provider. If you haven't done so already, I would take pictures of the damage and thoroughly document everything. If the valet denies they caused the damage, which I doubt they would, I would then contact your credit card company and see what coverage they could provide. Best of luck!
