My daughter lives with me but I never added her to my policy. She got into an at-fault accident. Will my insurance still cover the damages to the other person?
Normally the liability coverage on your policy should pay for damage caused to another driver, even if your daughter wasn’t currently listed on your policy. However, some insurance companies require anyone who lives in the household be listed on the policy – either included or excluded in order for them to properly determine the risk. Ultimately the decision is up to your insurer and can vary on a case by case basis, so I would recommend contacting them as quickly as possible to begin the claims process.
