I didn’t call the police after an accident

I hit a pole at the store when it was raining. What should I do because I didn’t call the police? It was raining and when I pulled up to the store my foot slipped off the break and I hit the pole. I didn’t call the cops because no one else was involved and I had to go to work.

There are a couple ways to look at things. You are able to file a claim with your insurance company for the damage to your vehicle, regardless if you filed a police report or not. The statute of limitations for property damage in Mississippi is 3 years. However, the other side of this is the damage you did to the pole. If there were cameras in the area and they reviewed the damaged, you could be charged with a hit and run. Which tend to be the most expensive violations you can be charged with. I would survey the damage you caused and weigh your options.
