Do we need to add our nanny to our auto insurance?
We have a nanny who does not live with us. She lives with her parents and drives her father's car. She has a poor driving record and to put her on our insurance would double our annual ($1,800 to $3,600). Her father removed her from their insurance so she drives their car without insurance. She does not drive our cars but she occasionally drives our kids in her car.
I would strongly advise not letting your nanny drive your kids without insurance. If she were to get in an accident, no coverage would be in place and she would have to foot the bill for damages to all vehicles and potential injuries for your children.
Your nanny will need to get insurance for her personal and business use to adequately protect herself and your family.
