Question

At-fault accident when I don't have insurance

I was in a fender bender. I hit the car in front of me when the driver failed to make a right turn. I don’t have insurance. What happens now? I don’t have insurance and left my personal information to the other driver. She gave me her insurance policy and said I can leave. No police report was filed as she said her insurance would “sort it out.” Now she is contacting me saying her insurance wants her to speak to me before filing her claim. She’s become aggressive and accusatory. What should I do?

Sorry to hear about your accident. Their insurance will likely try to verify you have no plan so they can pay their insured client under uninsured motorist coverage if they have it. If that is the case the other parties insurance may try to recover the funds from you after this. Texas law requires you to pay all damages you caused. If the damage is very minor you may want to contact the other party and pay out of pocket if possible as well. If things get more complicated or you need additional help I would contact a claims expert.
