Question

Should I file a claim if I got hit and am not at fault but settled for an amount less than I actually need?

I was in an accident and decided to settle the matter without getting insurance involved. The other driver paid out of pocket for my damages. It turns out, however, that this amount wasn't enough to cover it. The other driver notarized the payment. Is it still possible to file a claim?

Hello, My advice would be to contact your insurance company. They can begin negotiations and work on your behalf to get your vehicle back to its pre-accident state. As far as the notarization goes, I'm unclear on what you actually had notarized or what it's exact purpose was. Again, I would explain the situation in full to your insurance company. They should be able to advise you on your next steps. Good luck and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
