Question
Filing a claim 24 days into a car insurance policy
I got policy last wk of April and it started May1...may 25 something in the engine caught fire..filed the claim as I was told now their canceling it. Say I’m at high risk..but I wasn’t in a physical accident nor did I know my car would catch fire 24 Days into the policy...I didn’t even I was suppose to report it..what can I do or I’m just screwed?
Answer
Most companies will cancel your policy if you file a claim within the first 30 days of the policy. The reason is exactly what they told you. People who file a claim within the first 30 days of the policy are seen as a higher risk that most companies are not willing to take on. Insurance companies determine the risk based on how likely it is that they will have to pay out on a claim. This is is why your claim history affects your rates. You would have been informed of the rules and regulations within your policy documents. We can help you find a new company but they will not cover the existing damages. Just visit us at thezebra.com. Also, if you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask. Good luck
