Question

What happens to the rest of future premium if policyholder dies?

Death of policyholder – does estate get a refund on car & homeowner’s insurance premiums paid for future. Policyholder died in November, car insurance paid up until February. What happens to premiums from date of death to February? Does estate get any money back

Agent Answer

Ava Lynch

The estate should get a refund on the prorated premium that was paid for before the policy canceled. You will need to contact the insurance company right away to cancel the policy. At that time you can inquire about their specific process. Good luck and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
