My home insurance company won't give us a refund
We have been paying over 3,000 a year for insurance on a vacant property. We inquired as to how we could reduce it and were told we couldn't. We asked to cut the value of the building in half and again were told it couldn't be done. We found another agency at almost one third of the price. The policy was to go back in effect on March 22 and we cancelled today. They are telling us we may not receive a refund. Is this possible?
I would ask to speak to a supervisor. If you have a policy that is effective March 22nd, your previous insurance company should allow you to cancel the policy to that day and the remaining premium should be refunded to you. I would have your new insurance information and the policy documentation of your old policy ready when you call back. Best of luck.
