Question
I made two claims last year. Should I file a third?
I hit a fence in a mall parking lot, doing $7,500 damage to the car. Last year I had a $21,000 comprehensive claim and a $1,970 vehicle claim. Should I submit a third claim? It is GEICO and I have accident forgiveness, but what about the damage to the fence? I didn't make a police report.
Answer
If you're filing a claim to fix the damages caused to the fence, you should go ahead and get your vehicle fixed as well; events that go on your insurance history will mark all the payouts as coming from the same claim.
However, having three recent claims will likely result in your rate increasing, so consider shopping around for cheaper insurance elsewhere.
