Question

I was driving my friend's car and his car wasn’t insured but I am insured under my own policy. Will my insurance cover it?

I was recently in a car accident. It wasn’t my fault, the police said that I was not at fault for the accident, I didn’t get a ticket or any sort of violation. But I was driving my friend's car which wasn’t insured. I was wondering would my insurance cover it? What would they cover?

Your insurance policy won't cover the damage to your friend's car — it's only your liability coverage that follows you as a driver. Since you're not at fault, I recommend that your friend contact the at-fault party's insurance to get the car repaired.

Note that if the vehicle is uninsured but registered under your friend's name, the state of Florida can suspend his license once they check for insurance.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
