Question

If a car isn't going to be used for a certain amount of time, does it need to be insured?

My license is suspended for medical reasons and I don't know how long it will be before I'm able to get it back. If I'm not driving it, does it have to be insured?

As long as the vehicle is still registered and licensed, then it needs to be insured. Pennsylvania can suspend your license if you suddenly drop insurance off a vehicle. I would contact the state and see if they need you to turn in the plates or if you can get a temporary medical suspension. Then you would be free to cancel insurance on the vehicle.

Keep in mind that if you do drop insurance from your vehicle, and you eventually get your health in order and need to drive again, getting insurance will likely be more expensive due to the lapse in coverage.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
