Question
If my vehicles are all insured, can I get uninsured motorist coverage on just one car?
I'm shopping for new insurance and we were told that you can opt-out in the state of Colorado to have all vehicles covered for uninsured motorists. Is this a required coverage in Colorado?
Answer
Uninsured and underinsured bodily injury coverage is a policy-wide coverage. If you add it to one vehicle, it will be on all of them. Uninsured property damage coverage, however, can usually be selected on a per-vehicle basis though. See our guide to UM coverage to learn more about how it works. It is not a required coverage in the state of Colorado.
