Question

Why is my insurance $200 a month?

My insurance is almost $200 a month for basic full coverage on a 2017 Kia Forte. I am 39, 1 wreck 2015 1 speeding ticket 2017, why is it so high? The wreck was no injuries at fault, and the tick was in Cheyenne, WY - 83 mph in a 65 mph zone, I was paying less in 2015 on full coverage on my 2015 Chevy Cruze and on my 2006 harley davidson roadking classic?

There are a few things to look at here. First, your at-fault accident. For most insurance companies, at-fault accidents will stay on your insurance record for 3 years - meaning, for 3 years, you will be charged. In Texas, the average increase in premium 43%. Moreover, a speeding ticket will increase your premium an average of 5%. Next, moving from a 2015 vehicle to a 2017 vehicle can increase your premium as well. Your best bet for finding cheaper rates would be to shop around and compare with as many companies at once. Not all companies will charge you for your at-fault accident or your ticket the same.
