Do I have to insure my car if it isn't being driven?

I'm going through some financial hardships and can't afford to keep paying for my insurance. I'm planning to sell my car so it only moves because of alternative side parking in New York, but other than that it doesn't move.

Given the fact that you actually drive the vehicle, even if it's just to move to a new parking spot, you will be required to maintain insurance coverage. If you no longer wanted to insure it, you would need to remove the vehicle from the street and cancel the registration. You can always contact your local registration office for more specific instructions.
