Question
Is a claim payment to me by another company reported to my carrier?
I was contacted by the "other" carrier based on the accident report and the other driver's insurance company. Neither of us was at fault. I'm worried that if my insurer finds out that my insurance rates will go up.
Answer
It's hard to say with any certainty, but if your insurer was not involved in the claims process they would probably never know. If they do become involved they would likely know that a claim had gone through another company. This would happen if your CLUE report reflects a payout. Needless to say, it's not likely to affect your rates, but you should still pay attention to any rate increases when your policy renews.
