I just traded in my car and financed a new vehicle. The salesperson only asked for my proof of insurance, but not whether I had the new vehicle covered. Is it legal for me to drive the car even though it’s not listed on my policy?
Technically since you traded in a vehicle that already had an active policy, your new vehicle should be covered. Most insurance companies will automatically cover a new vehicle, for existing policy holders, for a few days until you are able to contact them to change vehicles on your policy. If you are unhappy with the rate quoted for the new vehicle, we recommend shopping with as many companies as possible to find the best rate.
