If a large item falls from a truck and causes an accident, whose insurance will cover it?
I loaned my truck to my nephew and my brother, my nephew was driving, an ice chest flew out of a truck in front of them that made my nephew swerved and hit the cement barrier in the middle of the road. My brother was injured. However, I only have liability insurance. Will that cover my brother's injuries? The lawyer’s assistant told me that I’m going to be sued if I don’t file a claim, but I don’t understand why? The doctor's bills for my brother, the lawyers time?
This is a legal matter and I suggest talking further with your own attorney. Your insurance will not cover the claim since you only have liability insurance. That covers damages that you cause to another vehicle, person, or property, not in your vehicle. I'm not sure what they would be suing you for considering your nephew was the one driving. Again, since this has turned into a legal matter, you want to contact an attorney. Good luck. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.
