Question

Am I legally required to insure my son’s car?

Can my insurance company make me carry insurance on my 20yr son living w/me? He has never driven my car. He has his own ins and car. They charged me an extra 165 and told me I had to prove that he has his own insurance or they would continue to keep him on my policy and not give me a credit. I can do that but it’s the point that it was unexpected and now I have to prove to them. Is that legal?

Yes, everyone that lives in your household that is of legal driving age needs to be listed on the policy. The reason is they have access to the car. If you provide proof that he has his own insurance, they can exclude him as a driver and he will not impact your rates. Good luck and if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
