Liability limits for a car accident in another state?

Is there a law that indicates that auto insurance should adjust their policy limits depending on where the accident took place? If I have the minimum liability for California but got into an accident in Texas, how would my liability limits change?

There is not a specific law that states the limits will be honored. However, I'm unaware of any company that does not operate this way when driving to different states. I would double check with your specific company for their rules regarding accidents that occur out of state but again this is the general rule of thumb. Good luck and if you have any other questions, do not hesitate to ask.
