Question
I live in a rural area but my zip code is for a town 10 miles away. Could I get insured using my PO Box zip which is only 3 miles away?
My home is on the last street in my postal zip code. I don't think it is fair that I have to pay city rates. I live in an unincorporated area of the county, not in the town where the post office serving my home is located. Can I get insured using a PO box?
Answer
Unfortunately, insurance companies cannot use a P.O. Box for a garaging address — the garaging address is where the vehicle is located or parked most of the time. I recommend talking to the local government to see if you can be re-districted to the closer zip code. Good luck and if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.
