My car was keyed 4 months ago. Is it too late to file a claim with my insurance company?
The vehicle was driven by my son and he was out of state at an internship in Florida. I did not want to file the claim until he returned home so I could look at the damage. Are there time constraints on when a claim can be filed?
The statute of limitations on property damage and injury claims in Ohio is two years — so you are well within the time frame to file a claim. The car being keyed would count as an act of vandalism, so your comprehensive coverage should cover the damage. Your insurance company may give you some trouble for the damage occurring out of state, but I don't see why they wouldn't cover it as long as your son was listed as a driver on your policy.
