Question

My daughter totaled her car while she was covered under my insurance. How does this affect my rate?

Daughter in college needed a car because her Mom, my ex-wife, took away her car as punishment. I bought her a car, with a salvage title, and insured it under our insurance. She wrecked it. It was a total loss. My ex-wife gave back her car on the condition my daughter put the car loan in her name. My daughter pays for her own insurance. How does this affect my insurance history? If so, how long?

If your daughter was the listed driver and the accident was logged correctly, most companies won't charge that against you. If you are looking to switch insurers and her accident comes up on your claims history, I would obtain proof or confirmation from that company that the claim wasn't yours so it can be cleared. Most agents will work with you in that situation.
